DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Wednesday, Feb. 15, as I left Otto in Auburn I found a pair of wet, dirty fleece mittens in the parking lot. I took them home planning to clean them up and donate them to the local elementary school.

After they had dried I noticed that something had fallen out of one of the mittens that might be of significance to the child who had lost them, so to make a long story short, I’m returning the mittens to the Flagship Cinema next to Otto in hopes that the lost may be found. — No name, Monmouth

ANSWER: If your child lost a pair of fleece mittens near the Flagship Cinema, please check with the business, and please write in. You know how I like to hear the end of the story!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am a senior citizen who shops at the Jay Plaza. I would like to know why there are no parking spaces in front of the drink shop or the thrift store. I do not have handicapped license plates and don’t understand why I must park so far back in the parking lot only to go into these stores and see no customers. I think maybe the vehicles are Hannaford employees. If so, why don’t they park in their parking lot? — No name, Livermore Falls

ANSWER: Here’s what I would do: politely inquire at one of the shops and ask if they know why there aren’t parking spaces assigned specifically to them. Perhaps there’s a good reason for it. You could also ask the Hannaford manager about it. Try the friendly approach and be curious. It’s good not to assume things. There could be a perfectly good reason why there aren’t parking spaces available close to the shops you frequent. Suggest that signs for designated parking be put in place. By doing that, you can at least have a conversation and hopefully bring about positive change. Give it a try.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here are a couple quick, easy recipes.

Last Minute Dinner Rolls: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix 2 cups self-rising flour, 1 cup milk, 4 teaspoons sugar, and 5 tablespoons mayonnaise until smooth. Spoon into a greased 12-count muffin tin. Bake for 10 minutes.

Easy French Toast: Combine 1 beaten egg and 1/2 cup orange juice in a bowl. Dip 4-5 slices raisin bread in egg mixture. Fry in 2 tablespoons melted butter in a skillet until browned. Serve with cinnamon, maple syrup, or powdered sugar.
