GREENE — The Maine School Administrative 52 board of directors authorized Superintendent Cari Medd to schedule remote learning days instead of traditional snow days at their meeting Thursday.
The vote allows Medd to direct teachers and students to learn remotely in case of hazardous weather only until the end of the school year. The district has already used five snow days, and using any more will push the final day of school back one week, she said.
This vote doesn’t mean the next snow day will be a remote day, only that the superintendent has the option to make it so. With advance notice, meals for the remote days could be sent home with students the previous day and students could all be directed to bring their laptops home.
Other nearby school districts like Auburn have already substituted remote days for snow days this year.
