After a dry and seasonable Monday, a winter storm with several impacts is expected Tuesday.
Heavy snow develops Tuesday morning with the heaviest snow expected from noon to midnight Tuesday. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches is possible, according to the National Weather Service. Significant snowfall and periods of heavy snowfall rates may combine with low visibility to create very dangerous driving conditions. The morning and evening commutes could be impacted, and the NWS urges people to not travel Tuesday.
This tapers off Wednesday morning as snow showers.
Winds will gust 30-50 mph, strongest near the coast. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages, according to the NWS.
Strong wind gusts are forecast — especially along the coast. Minor coastal flooding possible around the times of high tide late Tuesday.
