THE VILLAGES, Fla. – Ray Stephen Harris, 72, died on March 3, 2023, in The Villages, Fla.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1951, in Farmington, the son of the late Raymond Everett Harris and Janet Ruth Ann (Cummings) Harris. Ray was raised in South Paris, growing up and working at his family’s florist shop, Lowe’s Florist. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1969. He attended Thomas College, graduating in 1973.
Ray married the love of his life, Maureen (Chapman) Harris, in 1974. They celebrated 40 years of marriage, raising their three children in Windham. He was employed by UPS for 33 years. Ray enjoyed playing cribbage, chess, and rummy with his family and friends, taking family trips, and spending time with his two granddaughters.
Ray is survived by his partner Debbie Doyle of The Villages, Fla.; sons Patrick C. Harris of Oswego, N.Y., Ryan T. Harris and his wife Casey of Windham, and daughter, Jessica M. Harris of Oswego, N.Y.; his granddaughters Sylvie Maureen Harris and Tilly Jo Harris; his sister, Gail (Harris) Pike, his brother-in-law, Russ Pike and his niece Haley (Pike) Grant of Harrison; sister-in-law, Cathy Chapman and his nieces Kelly Chapman and Shannon Mbuthia of San Diego, Calif.; his brother-in-law Keith of South Portland and his wife Ann, and his nephews Jasin, Nathan, and Matthew Chapman.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife Maureen; niece, Shannon Pike; and brother-in-law, Dale Chapman.
A memorial service will be at a later date in Maine.
