Muriel D. Goulet Nadeau

AUBURN – Muriel D. Goulet Nadeau of Lewiston, Maine died on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, Maine.

Muriel was born in Lewiston on Aug. 3, 1927. She was the daughter of Ernest and Agathe Plante Goulet. She attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1946. On Sept. 4, 1948, she married the love of her life, Dr. Lawrence A. Nadeau. The couple moved to the Boston area and lived there for nine years while Larry completed his education at Tufts Medical School and residency in the Boston area. Muriel worked as a legal secretary for those nine years.

Muriel and Larry had four children who were their pride and joy.

Muriel loved to entertain her family at their summer home on Cobbosseecontee lake in Litchfield. For 25 years, Muriel participated in the Annual Loon Count on Cobboseecontee Lake for the Maine Audubon Society Loon Project.

She enjoyed the family ski vacations they took every winter while her children were growing up. After Larry retired, they took extended vacations each winter to Marco Island, Florida.

Muriel was devoted to her Holy Family Parish. She was married in that church and all of her children attended the grade school.

She was a life member of the Stanton Bird Club, St. Mary’s Patronesses, and Maine Medical Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children: Michael L. Nadeau and companion Jean Domaingue of Lewiston, Maine, daughter Gisele M. Nadeau of Portland, Maine, daughter Rachel Nadeau Lutts and husband Robert T. Lutts, of Salem, Massachusetts and son Daniel R. Nadeau and wife Donna Ceglia of Essex, Massachusetts.

She is survived by five grandchildren: Jeremy and wife Heather Nadeau of Turner, Maine, Jonathan Nadeau of Lewiston, Maine, Peter and wife Riley Lutts of Salem, Massachusetts, Madeleine G. Lutts, of Beverly, Massachusetts, and Philip Lutts and companion Carter Fitzgerald of Sebago Point, Maine. She is survived by three great grandchildren: Emery Dean Nadeau of Turner, Maine, Hailey Turcotte of Turner, Maine, and Huxley Nadeau of Lewiston, Maine.

She is survived by her brother, Gerald Goulet of Melbourne, Florida.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to Yvette Paulison, Muriel’s dedicated and loving caregiver.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Church. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9-11 AM prior to the Funeral Mass at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston 784-4023. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at http://www.lynchbrothers.com .
