100 Years Ago: 1923

The Poland Spring House opens for the summer season on Monday, June 14th. The Mansion House and Riccar Inn have been open all winter, the mecca for many young people from out of the State who come for the winter sports.

50 Years Ago: 1973

The annual Pancake Breakfast will be held June 3, and a special meeting of the directors of the Auburn-Lewiston Kiwanis Club has been  called by President Arthur W. Ford, April 18, to discuss the breakfast. All officers and directors are being urged to attend the special meeting.

25 Years Ago: 1998

Scott Morency, son of Paul and Diane Morency of Auburn, has received his Eagle badge, the highest award in Scouting. He is a member of Holy Cross Boy Scout Troop 116 in Lewiston. His Eagle Court of Honor was held at Holy Cross Church on March 5. Among those present were Lewiston Mayor Kaileigh Tara and Maine State Sen. John Jenkins. Morency was presented with a U.S. flag that was flown over the United States Capitol in his honor at the request of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.
