Are there any gardeners who would like to continue planting, watering and growing vegetables and flowers across from the Town and Lake Motel?
The hard work has been done removing stones and enriching the soil for the last 3 years. The green beans, wax beans, tomatoes, cukes, squash and peppers did very well and were delicious as only home grown can be. Seniors at the Townhouse enjoyed the fresh food as did the growers.
Sarita Benoit and Bunny Fazekas are retiring from growing food for the Community Food Pantry. The metal greenhouse arch will be removed, but the fencing can stay as long as the garden is used.
We want to thank Craig Sargent for the use of his land, Chris Farmer for rototilling, Ashley for helping to plant, Ryan of Due North for bushwacking the grassy area around the garden, Albert Clinch and crew for providing a water spigot, and Tinker Dunham for the rain barrell.
I certainly hope some of you will take advantage of this garden.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
