OAKLAND — Principal Jennifer McGee stood before more than 200 assembled students Friday as she spoke about Atwood Primary School’s reading challenge.
McGee had told the 233 pre-kindergarten to 2nd grade students that if they read for 50,000 minutes during a two-week challenge, she would kiss a pig. The students more than doubled the goal, with 108,890 minutes read.
So on Friday, it was time to make good on her hog wild bet.
“Guess what I have to do right now?” McGee said.
“Kiss a pig!” the students shouted back.
Amber Bragg and Kip Bragg, from Bragg Homestead in Sidney, lifted 2-month-old Petunia from her cage. Petunia squealed loudly and thrashed her legs at first, before calming down in the arms of Kip. McGee quickly scooted over, leaned down, and smacked a kiss on the wee porker’s head, to the delight of the assembled students.
