Award winning fiddler Owen Kennedy will perform at the Oasis of Music beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at The Church at Trinity Commons in Lewiston.
Kennedy will feature tunes from his debut album “Oh When: Now” at this concert. As an emerging musician rooted in the Maine Maritime music tradition and exploring the music of Scotland, “Oh When: Now” features the tunes Owen has loved for years as well as newer favorites from Scotland, Cape Breton, and Shetland. The album is a musical snapshot of the places he has visited and the musicians he’s played with and learned from. Many talented Maine folks were part of this project: It was recorded with Owen Marshall, mixed by Noah Fishman, mastered by Lincoln Clapp, with album design by Elsie Gawler and duplication from Crooked Cove. CDs will be available for purchase.
Kennedy is looking forward to travel in Scotland this summer and appreciates any help with funding his musical education.
The Oasis of Music is a weekly music series of performances of roughly thirty minutes, running from September to May. Admission is free, with donations accepted. The musical genres vary greatly, in largely, but not exclusively, acoustic formats. The Church at Trinity Commons is located at 247 Bates St., Lewiston. For more information, call 207-344-3106.
