RUMFORD – J. Louise Smith, 81, of Rumford died Thursday April 27, 2023, at The Rumford Community Home. She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 9, 1941, a daughter of the late Leo and Marie P. Dumoulin. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Stephens High School. She married, Lloyd Smith on June 17, 1988.

Jane owned and operated Triple J Yarn Goods for many years. In her retirement years she worked for Mardens in Rumford. She was a member of The Parish of the Holy Savior. She loved knitting and spending time with her late daughter and traveling with her late husband, Lloyd.

She is survived by her three stepchildren, David Smith of Rumford, Gary Smith and wife Nora of Maryland, and Cheryl Nokes and husband Steve of Peru, and a step daughter-in-law Jeannie Smith of Peru. She is also survived by 10 stepgrandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her daughter Jane Jacques, a brother Father Marcel Dumoulin, and step son Steve Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 27, at 11 a.m., at The Parish of the Holy Savior in Rumford. Committal will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Thibault Remembrance Center 250 Penobscot St. Rumford 364-4366.
