Eugene “Gene” Arthur Tardif

FARMINGTON – Eugene “Gene” Arthur Tardif, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by Family on May 25, 2023, at the Sandy River Nursing Care Center, Farmington where he was a resident. .

He was born on October 22, 1940, in Chisholm, Maine a son of Elphege and Lauretta (Belanger) Tardif.

He is survived by his Wife Barbara Tardif of Jay and stepson Ryan Currier; his Son Clifton, Wife Karla and granddaughter Amber of Oklahoma; Alfred and Wife Dixie of Jay; Leo Jr and Wife Alania of Vermont and Shawn and Wife Mary of Vermont; a Sister Doris and Husband Clyde Decoster of New Gloucester; Brother Elphage Jr and Wife Peggy of Wilton; Sister Elaine and Husband Larry of Jay; Brother Roland of Jay; Brother Reggie and Wife Louise of Jay, and Numerous Grand Children and Great Grand Children. He was predeceased by his older Brother Leonidas.

His served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963; returned home and married Judith Perry of Wilton. They lived in Wilton until building their home in Jay in 1990. Judith passed in 1997 and in 1998 he married Barbara (McCarthy) Currier.

He worked at Bass Shoe in Wilton for many years and later worked in construction for many years across Maine and New Hampshire. He had many hobbies: bowling, fishing, camping, traveling, motorcycling, ”Eating” and he was thought of as a “Jack” of all trades and a “Master of Most”.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, June 1st from 4-6 p.m., at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd, Jay, Maine. Private family memorial graveside services with full military honors will be held at a future date.
