Four area athletes have been named as finalists for the Miss and Mr. Maine Softball and Baseball awards.

Monmouth pitcher Brooklyn Federico and Oxford Hills catcher Kaydence Morse, the 2022 Sun Journal Player of the Year, have been selected as Miss Maine Softball finalists after playing key roles in their teams reaching regional finals, which will be played Wednesday. Federico also is the Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year, and Morse is the Class A North Player of the Year.

Oxford Hills Eli Soehren, the Class A North Player of the Year, and Oak Hill’s Kyle Delano, the Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year, are finalist for the Mr. Maine Baseball award, which is known as the Dr. John Winkin Award.

The awards are given annually to Maine’s top high school seniors in softball and baseball. The winners will be announced at the Senior All-Star Games at St. Joseph’s College in Standish — June 20 for baseball and June 21 for softball.

Other Winkin Award finalists are Alex Bartlett of Oceanside, Carson Black of Sacopee Valley, Gabe Gifford of Old Town, Andrew Heffernan of South Portland and Jason Libby of Bangor Christian.

Joining Federico and Morse as Miss Maine Softball finalists are Biddeford’s Charlotte Donovan, Bucksport’s Ella Hosford, Searsport’s Ana Lang and Hermon’s Lyndsee Reed.
