Sunday was a happy Father’s Day spent in the mountains for Farmingdale racer Johnny Clark.

For the fifth time in Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model competition, Clark won the feature race at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire. After winning Sunday’s 150-lap race, Clark got to visit victory lane with his family.

For the 2020 Oxford 250 winner to get there, it took some battling with both a PASS veteran and the hottest up-and-comer. He raced against New Hampshire native DJ Shaw for much of the race after getting to the front about 40 laps into the race. He then finished his victory by keeping ahead of defending Oxford Plains Speedway SLM champ and PASS title contender Max Cookson.

Cookson finished in the runner-up spot, while Shaw faded to a sixth-place showing. Jimmy Renfrew Jr. crossed the line third Sunday, but was disqualified from that placing following post-race inspection. That bumped Evan Hallstrom into the final podium spot.

Wiscasset Speedway regular Ryan Ripley captured the PASS Mods victory, with Ryan Hewins and series points leader Brandon Varney rounding out the podium.

OXFORD 250 FINDS A SPONSOR

After going without a title or presenting sponsor for the past four years, the Oxford 250 once again has found a business partner for the big race — and PASS and OPS president Tom Mayberry didn’t have to look far to find it.

The track announced last week that Turner-based Spencer Paving Group has signed on to be the headline sponsor for the 50th running of the event. The company’s president is Oxford native and PASS/OPS competitor Dennis Spencer Jr.

“I grew up watching my racing heroes and dreaming about competing in the Oxford 250,” Dennis Spencer Jr. said in a news release announcing the partnership. “To be able to actually put our name on such a big race in its 50th year is beyond anything I had ever considered. When Tom (Mayberry) approached me about this, it was a no-brainer really.”

RAIN WON’T GO AWAY

Saturday racing action at both Oxford Plains and Wiscasset was canceled due to rainy weather. For Wiscasset, it was the third straight Group 1 weekend wiped out due to weather.

Oxford Plains postponed its 100-lap open SLM feature to this Friday, June 23, with regular Oxford Championship Series divisions in action Saturday, June 24. Meanwhile, next on the schedule for Wiscasset is Group 2 action on Saturday, with a visit from the NEMA Midget and Lite divisions. Wiscasset’s Group 1 is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, July 1.

DRY THURSDAY

While Saturday’s slates were washed out, Oxford Plains was able to get its Oxford Acceleration Series divisions on the track Thursday.

Winners included: Amara Parker (Ladies), Jeremy Turner (Outlaws), Ryan Farrar (Trucks), Rick Austin (Rebels), Keith Stuart (Varsity Thunder Stocks), Kassadie Munro (Jr. Rookies) and Ethan Guptill (Cruisers).
