Five people have been arrested over the last month in connection with drug trafficking in the region, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
The total amount of drugs confiscated was 1,797.4 grams, which is nearly 4 pounds, consisting of crack cocaine, cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Tuesday.
Kyle Demchak and Timony Freeman were driving in Rome on May 12 when they were pulled over for multiple traffic violations. In the vehicle were 431 grams of cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine; 393 grams of cocaine HCL, or pure powder cocaine; and $2,283 of suspected drug proceeds, police said.
Demchak was arrested on charges of two counts of aggravated tracking in scheduled drugs and refusing to submit to arrest, and Freeman was arrested on charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. Both were denied bail.
A day later, on May 13, Michael Seegars and Samantha Decker were arrested.
Seegars is out of jail on bail and is subject to a search for firearms and dangerous weapons. When he was searched at his home, he allegedly had 70.1 grams of cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine; 21.5 grams of methamphetamine; 82.8 grams of fentanyl; one handgun; and $7,897 of suspected drug money.
Segars was arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, two counts of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and violating conditions of release. Decker was arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking of schedule drugs, two counts of unlawful trafficking and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Segars was denied bail and Decker’s was set at $30,000.
Lisa Demers was charged in West Gardiner last week on June 13 with three counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, violating conditions of release and operating after suspension.
