SOMERVILLE — A passenger in an Amish buggy was injured Monday in Somerville after a driver struck the vehicle while attempting to pass it.
The horse-powered buggy had been traveling east on state Route 17 when the driver of a 2019 Jeep Compass hit its left rear wheel, causing it to detach, according to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The injuries to the buggy passenger — an adult male whom officials did not identify — are minor and included scrapes on his hand and wrist. No other injuries were reported, including to the horse.
The buggy was driven by Dan Yoder, 60, of Whitefield. The Jeep was driven by Hannah Carter, 24, of Friendship.
Deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 7:49 a.m. on Monday.
