DEAR SUN SPOTS: I need help for my husband, Sam, who is in a regular wheelchair because he can’t walk or stand up. He’s been at Clover Manor in Auburn for 10 months. His birthday is coming up and he wants to go to the Oxford Casino for two hours. I need somebody to take him with a handicapped-accessible van to Oxford on July 16. We’ve been married for 47 years and have always gone to the casino on our anniversary. Our anniversary was June 5 and this year we couldn’t go. Please help get Sam to the casino on July 16. ANSWER: Pickleball is a relatively new sport, invented in 1965 in Washington state. It has gained in popularity over the past decades. The game uses components from other sports, including paddles, a tennis-style net and wiffle-style balls. If you’re looking for some fun, exercise and socializing, this sport might be for you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in response to the person who was looking for scones. While it isn’t directly located in the Lewiston-Auburn area, a short ride to the Pineland Farms Cafe & Bakery in New Gloucester will yield what they are looking for. Their wide choice of fresh bakery items includes generously sized scones, and they are usually available every day, with the variety changed daily. It’s pretty hard to beat a fresh scone with a hot cup of coffee! — Roland, Auburn
