BUCKFIELD — Calling it a “return to a state of stability,” Buckfield Town Manager Cameron Hinkley has appointed Stacy Blaquiere as the Chief of Service for Buckfield Rescue.

Blaquiere replaces longtime Chief Floyd “Chip” Richardson, who resigned in March.

“Stacy has served as the interim Deputy Chief during the last few months and comes to us with an extensive amount of emergency services experience that will undoubtedly be an asset to the town and the communities we serve,” Hinkley said.

Blaquiere previously worked at Pace Ambulance, beginning in 2010 on a per diem basis. She also worked full time at the Maine Department of Public Safety Communications in Gray before returning to Pace after the Maine State Police consolidated its communications network and moved to Augusta.

Earlier this year, Blaquiere received the Captain Joel Barnes Memorial Award. The award is presented annually by the Maine Mariners hockey team, Teamsters Local 340 and Berwick Firefighters Association. The honor recognizes a Maine first responder who embodies the spirit of Barnes, a Berwick captain, who died in line of duty in 2019.

For the past four months, Cassie Greenwood has filled in as interim Rescue Chief for Buckfield Rescue, steering the agency through its recent transitional phase.

Hinkley praised Greenwood for “rebuilding the department into what it is today.”

“She stepped up when asked and has done a fantastic job during her tenure, bringing in new providers and ensuring that our community continues to receive the care and response they have grown to expect,” Hinkley said.

The Select Board is expected to consider Blaquiere’s appointment at its next meeting on Aug. 7.
