Ten was the story in victory lane after Sunday’s Super Late Model race Oxford Plains Speedway.

Kate Re drove the No. 10 car to the 50-lap feature win — her first in SLMs at Oxford Plains — and in doing so became the second female to win a race in the track’s top division, and the first since Vanna Brackett made history as the first 10 years ago, in 2013.

Making the win even more special for Re was having her father, Rick, at the track — and in victory lane — after having to miss the previous race for health reasons.

“Tonight, we convinced him to come just in time for the feature. We finally put it all together for a picture-perfect ending,” Kate Re posted on her Facebook page Sunday night. “Having him in victory lane with me tonight felt like a win in itself.”

Another first at the track Sunday was PJ Merrill’s victory in the Limited division. It was the Canton native’s first win at the track after winning races in the same car at Beech Ridge and Wiscasset speedways in previous seasons.

Re’s and Merrill’s victories were part of an unexpected busy day at the speedway, after Thursday’s and Saturday’s slates were washed out due to weather. That made for a 12-feature lineup on Sunday.;

Other winners included: Brandon Johnson (Street Stocks), Cody Macomber (Mad Bombers), Dale Durgin (Figure 8s), Amara Parker (Ladies), Cruisers (Lindsay Barker), Alex Moore (Sport Trucks), Dustin Salley (Rebels), Matt Veinott (Outlaws), Kenny Hoyt (Thunder Stocks) and Tyler Connolly (Rookies).

This weekend is scheduled to be another busy weekend for Oxford Plains Speedway. The regularly scheduled Oxford Championship Series is in action Saturday — including a visit by the New England Supermodified Series — and the Pro All Stars Series SLM and Mods headline more racing action Sunday.

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY

While Oxford Plains called an audible and pushed racing action to Sunday, Wiscasset Speedway had a raceless weekend due to Saturday’s rainy weather.

Yet another Group 1 slate was canceled due to Mother Nature. The Wiscasset website posted “please stay tuned for details on makeup info” for the latest Group 1 washout.

Group 2 is scheduled to be in action this coming Saturday. Last time out, Will Collins (Late Models), Adam Chadbourne (Modifieds), Zach Audet (Outlaw Minis) and Jeremy Glasier (Strictly Streets) were winners, with Brad Babb capturing 350SMAC Bentley Warren Classic.

Saturday’s weather also caused a cancellation of PASS Bay State Summer Classic at Seekonk Speedway. The PASS website said the event will be rescheduled, but at a different track “due to no mutually available dates.”

This coming Sunday’s PASS SLM race is the last scheduled feature for the series before Oxford 250 weekend Aug. 25-27.
