JAY — North Jay Water District customers north of Look Brook Circle off state Route 4 need to boil water for one minute before drinking it until further notice.
Two water line breaks in the area were fixed as of Friday morning. The water has been turned on for customers north of Look Brook, and the rest of the area from Old Jay Hill Road north was expected to be turned on Friday.
The district will bring samples of water to a laboratory in Augusta to be tested for E. coli and coliform bacteria.
Once customers get their water back they are advised to boil it before using it for consumption. That includes for drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth or any other activity involving consumption, according to district Superintendent Ben Wright.
One water line break was discovered Wednesday just north of the Jay-Niles Memorial Library and a second was identified south of the Pine Haven Mobile Park on Thursday.
