The Rev. Patrick McLaughlin is the First Universalist Church of Auburn’s full-time contract minister for the 2023-24 church year.

McLaughlin’s ministry officially started Aug. 28, and he plans to be in the pulpit for the annual Ingathering Water Communion Service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at 169 Pleasant St.

McLaughlin comes to Auburn from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, New Hampshire, where he served as the settled minister from 2013-22. He has also served the Unitarian Universalist Association as a board trustee and secretary, according to a news release from Toby Haber-Giasson at the church.

McLaughlin, who lives in Chester, New Hampshire, holds a Master of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School.

His previous careers include a wide range of writing and editing jobs (spacecraft operating manuals and presentations for Congress, as well as journalism), and homeschooling two sons.
