LISBON — On Saturday, Sept. 9, 911NFT’s fifth annual Tribute to Our Fallen event is set to start at 9 a.m. at the Railroad Diner, 697 Lisbon St.

This event is a tribute to remember 9/11 and the firemen and women and first responders who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the 2001 tragedy. It also is a special ceremony to honor all Maine firefighters and pay respect to those lost nationwide, according to a news release from Ross Cunningham, Lisbon Economic and Community Development.

This year’s event is brought together by Fire & Iron Firefighters Motorcycle Club Stations 707 and 73, 911NFT, Down Cellah, The Railroad Pub & Grill, American Legion Post 158, the StrayKat Society Riding Club, Friends of Worumbo, and the town of Lisbon and volunteers from area communities.

The event will start with a buffet breakfast at 9 a.m., followed at 10:30 a.m. by a police escort departure through Lisbon for a motorcycle ride to the Augusta Firefighters’ Memorial to pay respects and return to the Railroad Pub. This ride is expected to include more than 100 motorcycle riders and passengers.

Upon their return to Lisbon, at approximately 12:45 p.m., they will receive another police escort back to the Railroad Diner and return under a ceremonial flag suspended by the Lisbon Ladder firetruck.

The event will then hold a bell ringing ceremony to honor those fallen in the line of duty. The afternoon will continue with live music from the bands Down Cellah at 2 p.m. and M.Y.O.B. Band at 6 p.m.

There will be a raffle as well with prizes. Funds raised will benefit the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation and also a Maine family of a fallen firefighter.
