In just his second season driving in the Super Late Model division at Oxford Plains Speedway, Max Cookson is already a multi-time track champion.
With a sixth-place finish in Saturday’s feature, Cookson clinched his second straight track championship.
Ben Ashline won the 50-lap SLM feature on OPS Championship Night, with Steven Chicoine and Colby Benjamin rounding out the podium. Ryan Deane and Austin Teras also finished ahead of Cookson in the 21-car field.
The track handed out championships in both its Oxford Championship Series and Oxford Acceleration Series divisions.
Nate Leavitt captured the Limiteds title, with Dylan Thyng winning Saturday’s feature. Jordan Russell won the feature and the championship in Street Stocks, while in Mad Bombers, Corey Morgan came away with the title and Michael Dearden captured the checkered flag for the feature.
Charlie Hall clinched the Thunder Stocks title, with Thomas Richards claiming the feature win. Greg Durgin won the Figure 8s feature, with Dale Durgin finishing third and claiming the championship. Jaxson Moreside’s third-place finish in Rookies capped off his division championship, while Tyler Connolly won the final feature.
In OAS action, Alex Moore (Trucks), Will Dunphy (Outlaws), Matt Morneau (Cruisers), Keith Stuart (Varsity Thunder Stocks) and Amara Parker (Ladies) were all victorious in features on a night where they each clinched a division championship. Matt Mahar secured the Rebels title while finishing third in the feature behind Adam Oneil and Conrad Childs.
WISCASSET WINNERS
Wiscasset Speedway’s Group 1 was in action Saturday night, with the Super Streets running double features thanks to rainouts earlier in the season.
Keith Drost won the first 30-lap feature, and Noah Haggett captured the second.
Other division feature winners included: Kevin Douglass (Pro Stocks), Reed Reno (4-Cylinder Pro) and Shane Webber (Thunder 4 Mini).
MOTHER NATURE HAS NO MERCY
A pair of touring races scheduled for Sunday were both rained out.
A 150-lap Pro All Stars Series slate at Oxford Plains Speedway, featuring both the SLMs and Mods, was wiped out, with no rescheduled date announced.
Also postponed due to weather was a Granite State Pro Stock Series 150-lap race at Lee Speedway. That race has been rescheduled to Sunday, Oct. 1.
