FRYEBURG — A juvenile was seriously injured when he was struck by a pickup truck while running in the predawn hours Friday on U.S. Route 302.
The driver of a Dodge Ram was heading westbound on Bridgton Road, or Route 302, about 5:20 a.m. when he attempted to turn left onto Pine Street, Fryeburg police Lt. George Walker said. The runner, heading eastbound on the sidewalk, was struck as he entered the intersection.
The juvenile was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in North Conway, New Hampshire, with serious injuries, Walker said.
The driver of the pickup truck, who is from Windham, was not hurt.
Police did not release the names of those involved.
The crash remains under investigation.
