SALEM TOWNSHIP — An Alissa Butterfield throw-in got the ball rolling for Mt. Blue in a 2-0 win over Mt. Abram in a cross-conference girls soccer game Monday.

Butterfield’s first-half throw-in led to Natalee Orr’s opening goal midway through the frame.

Lilla Simpson doubled the Cougars’ (2-4) lead midway through the second half off an assist Gracie Ross.

Destiny Hensley made two saves for the Mt. Blue shutout, while Jany Pepin stopped 12 shots for the Roadrunners (2-5).

MARANACOOK 6, OAK HILL 0: Natalie Mohlar scored a pair of goals to help lead the Black Bears (7-0) past the Raiders (1-5) in Wales.

Stella Stewart, Phoebe Bell, Evelyn Stevenson and Hope Webb also scored for Maranacook, which led 2-0 at half.

Devyn Eliasen and Ava Pare combined to make three saves for the Black Bears. MacKenzie Vattaso made 14 saves for Oak Hill.

MONMOUTH/WINTHROP 5, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Abigail St. Clair scored consecutive goals in the second half to help the Mustangs (6-2) pull away from the Falcons (3-5) in Monmouth.

Freshman Hayli Paradis gave Monmouth/Winthrop a 1-0 lead in the first half that stood until St. Clair’s back-to-back tallies. Riley Smith and Audrey Langlois also scored second-half goals. Annabelle Carlton notched two assists and Tarynn Keleher added another.

June Foyt made six saves for the Mustangs, and Kloee Pelletier pulled in seven for Mountain Valley.

FIELD HOCKEY
DIRIGO 6, BOOTHBAY 0: Emily Woods factored into all five goals in the second half as the Cougars (4-1) pulled away from the Seahawks (1-6) in Dixfield.

Grace Averill opened the scoring in the first quarter, with an assist from Nicole Turnbull. That 1-0 lead stood at halftime.

Averill scored again early in the third quarter, with Woods assisting. Woods later scored from Lana Waite, then assisted on Diana Cayer’s goal to put Dirigo up 4-0 after three quarters. Woods scored twice in the fourth, with Turnbull providing the assist on the Cougars’ final goal.

Keira Kelley made one save to secure the shutout, and Cass Amaral stopped eight shots in net for Boothbay.

HALL-DALE 2, OAK HILL 0: Faith McDougal and freshman Makayla Norton each scored to lead the Bulldogs to the MVC victory in Farmingdale.

Delanie MacDonald and McDougal each had assists for Hall-Dale (5-2).

Jade Graham had four saves for Hall-Dale while Sierra Lane had 15 for Oak Hill (2-4-1).

YORK 3, ST. DOMINIC 0: Three players tallied goals for the Wildcats (5-2-1) in a win over the Saints (2-5) in Auburn.

Maddigan Fitzgerald, Ava Brent and Bella Santini each scored while Natalie Dickson only had to make four saves in net for the shutout.

Mia Cote turned aside 16 shots for St. Dom’s.

BOYS SOCCER
MT. ABRAM 2, MT. BLUE 1: Killian Pillsbury had a goal and an assist in the Roadrunners’ (8-0) victory against the Cougars (3-3-1) in Farmington.

He scored in the first half, along with assisting Sam Cockerhan to put Mt. Abram up 2-0. Logan Dube stopped seven shots in the victory.

Nate Zeliger scored in the second half for Mt. Blue, with Finley Ward recording the assist. Chase Ranger made eight saves.
