Esther M. Larsen

CANTON – Esther M. Larsen, 91, of Dixfield, passed away in her sleep on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, and is now present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Esther was born August 22, 1932, to the late Howard Jamison and Ruby Jamison (Leckey).

Esther was raised in Mexico, Maine and attended Mexico High School. She continued her education in Boston at the New England Baptist School of Nursing where she received her R.N. degree. While in Boston she cared for several famous patients including J.F.K. She also met her husband, Alvan, at the famous Ruggle Street Baptist Church.

Later they moved to Maine to raise their family. Esther looked forward to visiting Bar Harbor every year. She enjoyed hiking the carriage roads and of course popovers at Jordan House and eating lobster.

She was an avid reader, continuing to read and study medical reports and health related issues her entire life. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Alvan Larsen; her son, James Larsen; and brother, George Jamison.

She is survived by her sons, George Larsen and his wife Laurie and John Larsen; grandsons, Patrick and Jacob Larsen; and great grandson Jamison Larsen.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 28, 2023, at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin Street, Rumford, ME. Friends and family are invited to visit after 12 noon.
