Lorraine A. (Lizotte) Safford Welch

LEWISTON – Lorraine A. (Lizotte) Safford Welch, 84, a longtime resident of Livermore, peacefully passed on to glory on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Caribou, Maine, on July 10, 1939, the daughter of James and Albina (Smart) Lizotte. Lorrie was a graduate of Mexico High School. On March 31, 1959, she married Roger E. Safford. They built R.E. Safford’s Garage and Excavation and together were blessed with 35 wonderful years together before his passing on April 16, 1994. Lorrie found love again and married Thomas W. Welch, Jr. in April of 1997. They enjoyed 15 years of marriage before his passing in April of 2012.

Lorrie was a faithful member of the Wayside Bible Baptist Church in Livermore for 18 years and East Auburn Baptist Church for the last three years when she was able to attend. She was a member of the Antique Tractor Association, Red Hats Society, Livermore Quilting Association, and a volunteer of Owls Head Transportation Museum. Her passions included baking, quilting, and taking care of those around her. She will be forever remembered for her generous spirit and her readiness to just be there for others.

Lorrie is survived by her daughter Kelly-Jo LeVasseur and husband Dan of Livermore; her grandchildren Brian Young and his wife April, Chelsea LeVasseur, Evan Levasseur and his wife Brianna, Carlton Young, Tory Young, and Roland Tyler; her great grandchildren Roger Young, Davenee Tyler, and Huntleigh LeVasseur; her brother Gerald Lizotte of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, her daughter Sara-Jane Tyler, her brother Jimmy Lizotte, Jr., and her sister Priscilla True.
