A tractor-trailer truck carrying wooden cabinetry was destroyed after it struck a bridge on Brown Street in Westbrook on Wednesday afternoon.
Brown Street at Cumberland Street was closed for hours after the truck slammed into the black metallic bridge around 2:35 p.m. The road was reopened Wednesday night.
No one was injured, but photographs of the crash posted on the Westbrook Fire Department’s Facebook page showed that the tractor-trailer truck was crushed by the impact. The truck is 13 feet, 6 inches high, but the bridge clearance is 11 feet, 5 inches.
