BETHEL — Vivi Charette helped Telstar take a two-goal lead in the first quarter, and the Rebels held on to defeat Sacopee Valley in field hockey action Friday for their first win of the season.
Charette scored and assisted on Bella Bennett’s goal in the opening period.
Lindsy Stephenson stopped two shots for Telstar (1-8), while Lily Kick made six saves for the Hawks (4-1-1).
BOYS SOCCER
MT. ABRAM 3, GARDINER 0: Bear Rollins scored two goals and Morgan Thibodeau scored one as the Roadrunners (10-0) remained unbeaten with a victory over the Tigers (6-2-1) in Salem Township.
Killian Pillsbury recorded an assist for Mt. Abram, while Trey Reed and Logan Dube combined to make three saves.
Gardiner goalie Connor Fairservice stopped nine shots.
GIRLS SOCCER
GARDINER 4, LEAVITT 3: Abby Cooley scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, in the Tigers’ (8-1) victory against the Hornets (2-8) in Turner.
Cooley’s deciding goal was scored with less than a minute remaining in overtime. Her first goal came in the second half.
Sophia Marrone had a goal and an assist for Gardiner, and Lydia Gero also found the back of the next.
Madi Dutil and Kylee Spugnardi each had a goal and a helper for Leavitt, and Alicia Bergeron scored in the second half off an assist from Abby Sirois.
Taylor Takatsu made five saves for Gardiner, and Jamie Ellis had seven stops for Leavitt.
