A Gorham woman who had been reported missing died in a crash on the Maine Turnpike early Wednesday morning.

Maine State Police say 78-year-old Jean Robinson pulled over just before the southbound ramp at Exit 80 in Lewiston, then turned left into the travel lane. Her car was struck broadside by a passing tractor-trailer around 2:30 a.m.

Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, 63-year-old David Alicea of Nashua, New Hampshire, was not injured.

Gorham police issued a silver alert on Tuesday for Robinson, who had cognitive impairment, after she failed to arrive in Southwest Harbor.

State police continue to investigate the crash.
