DIRIGO 50, MT. VIEW 16: Big plays pushed the Cougars (5-1) past the Mustangs (0-6) in Thorndike.
Mount View scored first to take an 8-0 lead, but then Dirigo reeled off five straight TDs.
After Leo Spaulding scored on a 2-yard run for the Mustangs, Dirigo’s Owen Smith returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. Later in the first quarter, quarterback Hudson Lufkin tossed an 81-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Crosby, giving the Cougars a 14-8 advantage.
In the second quarter, Lufkin and Brady Philbrick hooked up for a 60-yard touchdown pass, and Smith scored on a 60-yard run. Dirigo’s lead was up to 28-8 at halftime.
Nathaniel Wainwright ran in a score from 51 yards out to make it 36-8 in the third quarter.
Mount View ended the five-touchdown onslaught with a 70-yard kickoff return touchdown by Wyatt Everson. As he did following the Mustangs’ first score, Smith returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown.
Smith’s three touchdowns all came of plays of 60 yards or more. All of the Cougars’ scoring plays went for at least 51 yards, that last a 75-yard run by Tanner Bradeen for the lone points of the fourth quarter. Bradeen then ran in the 2-point conversion to finish the scoring.
Lufkin ran in two 2-point conversions, and Wainwright one for Dirigo. Everson scored 2-point conversions after both of Mount View’s scores.
MORSE 34, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 8: Braeden Cunningham rushed for three touchdowns as the Shipbuilders (5-1) beat the Falcons (2-4) in an eight-man Small School game at Bath.
Cunningham scored from 65 yards in the first quarter, from 4 yards in the second and from 6 yards in the third.
Calin Gould connected with Braylon Williams for a 16-yard touchdown pass that made it 22-0 just before halftime. Tyson Pinkham added a 2-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
Kaden Paaso ran in the touchdown for Mountain Valley, and Rilan Farnum converted the two-point conversion run.
