100 Years Ago: 1923

“We’re all ready,” said President Totman this afternoon when speaking about the 69th exhibition of the Sagadahoc Agricultural and Horticultural society. Isaiah Morrell, who looks after the horse department said: “Give us the weather and we’ll do the rest. More horses than ever.”

50 Years Ago: 1973

The Knight House, Auburn’s oldest frame dwelling, being restored in the Auburn Urban Renewal area, received a new coat of paint during the weekend.

Brigadier Gen. Ralph B. Skinner of Auburn Heritage Inc. the non-profit group formed to preserve historic sites in the city, said Morin & Son, the Painter, painted the Knight House red, with white trim. The paint was donated by Maine Line Paints Co.

As soon as construction in the UR area is completed it is hoped the Knight House will be opened to the public, Gen. Skinner said.

25 Years Ago: 1998

(Sun Journal photo) Marge Cormier proudly displays the 1998 Maynard Cup which she won recently at Fairlawn Golf Course in Poland. It was her sixth title in the women’s tourney sponsored by Maynard Shoes of Lewiston.
