Auburn is blessed with clean water and prime farmland. Those resources must be protected if Auburn is to thrive.

To do so requires collaborative leadership on the City Council and active citizens. Jeff Harmon as mayor would offer that leadership.

Auburn’s current mayor has pursued scheme after scheme to dismantle the protections in the city’s ordinances. He has done this by pushing sweeping zoning changes, intimidating the public and council members and controlling committee appointments.

He did not succeed in destroying the agricultural district, because citizens refused to give up and ultimately worked with city staff to achieve a constructive compromise.

He has not yet succeeded in imperiling Lake Auburn, again because of citizen protest and the city of Lewiston’s refusal to be ousted from decisions on the joint water supply.

I will be voting for Jeff Harmon and current council member Rick Whiting, who refused to enable the mayor.

Bonnie Lounsbury, Auburn
