The past two years have been anything but usual. Coming out of the pandemic, it seems every community in Maine is addressing the housing shortage, investing in infrastructure, making quality of life improvements, facing unmet needs, increasing the tax base and planning for the future.

But the second largest city in Maine appears to still be in lockdown, planning for austerity measures, not growth. With municipal elections just a month away, are our residents resigned to “politics as usual”?

Is Lewiston satisfied with leadership for the past two years? Do we desire three more years of partisan divide and self interest in decision-making?

Or are we ready to move forward? I believe change is necessary for Lewiston to realize our great potential, and encourage anyone in Wards Two, Four, Five or Six to weigh their options closely and consider voting for Susan Longchamps, Michael Roy, Billie-Jayne Cooke and David Chittim.
