Event at The Rangeley Public Library
“Solar Eclipse Viewing ”
12:30 pm Saturday Oct 14th, 2023
Presenter: Children’s Librarian Brittany Wetherill
A Partial Eclipse will be visible from Rangeley from 12:30 – 2:30, October 14, 2023. The Rangeley Public Library will be hosting a viewing party outside in the Library Garden, presented by Children’s Librarian Brittany Wetherill.
The event will include fun science games, interesting myths from around the world, and of course, the witnessing of a rare scientific event!
This event is also a good opportunity to test your solar viewing equipment in preparation of Rangeley’s Shadows of the Sun Festival (April 5-8, 2024).
The Rangeley Public Library will be passing out certified solar eclipse glasses at this event and demonstrating other at home viewing methods. We encourage participants to bring in old viewing glasses for testing before use.
Fun for all ages! Open to public, walk-ins welcome.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
