Elizabeth “Betty” Pulk

RUMFORD – Elizabeth “Betty” Pulk, 94, of Carthage, passed away early Saturday morning, October 14, 2023, at the Rumford Community Home. She was born August 11, 1929 in Arnold, PA, a daughter of George and Frances Carson. In 1948, she married Edwin Pulk. They moved to Maine in 1957 and had eleven children. Being a mom and raising her children was important to her. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and growing flowers. She liked helping people and was a den mother, and was a member of the Carthage Mother’s Club, and the Weld Ladies Auxiliary. She worked several different jobs over the years at the Novelty Shop, GH Bass Shoe, and in local boarding homes.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Judy Wardwell and husband, Carl of Wilton, Edna Smith, Patricia Clark, Yvonne Melcher and her husband, Mike all of Carthage; sons, William Pulk, Edwin and wife, Jackie, Timothy and wife, Dalene, all of Carthage, Bruce and his wife, Peggy of Rumford, and Lloyd Pulk of Fort Kent; sister, Margaret Robinson and brother, David Carson and wife, Karen, all of PA; brother, Ronald and his wife, Cheryl of Georgia; 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; She was predeceased by sons, Francis and George; husband, Edwin; granddaughter, Kelly Blanchard; son-in-law, Charles Smith; brothers, John, William, Charles, Paul, and Raymond Carson; sisters, Dorothy Mae Spana and Shirley Carson.

Graveside memorial services will be held at the New Newman Cemetery Oct. 28 at 12 noon. Memories may be shared in her Book of Memories at http://www.wilesrc.com. Wiles Remembrance Centers of Farmington is honored to be providing cremation care.
