100 Years Ago: 1923

The Philharmonic club entertained the Festival Chorus, the Woman’s Literary Union, the Foyer Musicale, and the Business and Professional Women’s club at a reception at the studio last evening. Miss Gabrielle Jalbert, who has just returned from two years’ study of the violin in Montreal, gave a recital program.Miss Jalbert was introduced by Miss Exilia Blouin, who referred to her work with Prof. Taranto and Camille Couture. That Miss Jalbert is an artist was seen at once. She played beautifully. Her first number was “Allegro Brilliant,” a difficult selection, and the only one played with notes, but given with entire ease and smoothness.

50 Years Ago: 1973

It’s American Education Week, and schools of the Twin Cities, as elsewhere, are participating in the nationwide observance.
