Western Maine Machines is relocating its Rumford Store to a new facility at 470 Auburn Road (Route 4) in Turner, due to open Friday, Nov. 24.
“Due to the great local support from our valued customers these past few years, we have actually grown too big for our present location, and needed to search for other possibilities,” said Jim Morrison, who owns the business with wife Deb. “… We are just moving down the road. Pretty much everyone drives to Auburn, and our new shop will be right along the way.”
For those who can’t get their sewing machine or vacuum to the new location for service or repair, the Morrisons have partnered with Ann White and Sew Exciting at 232 Waldo Street in Rumford to act as a drop-off location. The business plans to stop its alteration, shoe repair and dry cleaning services beginning in November.
In its new space, Western Maine Machines will expand its repair service and longarm quilting area, and have more room for its sewing classes, fabrics and quilting supplies.
