Daniel S. Lothrop

AUBURN – Daniel S. Lothrop, 64, of Auburn passed away unexpectedly following an illness at his home on Saturday Oct. 21, 2023.

He was born in Lewiston, on Dec. 30, 1958, to the late Murray A. Lothrop and Jacqueline F. Varney. Dan attended Auburn schools including Edward Little High School where he graduated in 1977 followed by his immediate enlistment into the U.S. Army.

Dan spent a fulfilling 17 years with the United States Army Reserves, 619th Transportation Unit. Toward the end of his military career he was employed by Morrison and Sylvester where he dedicated 25 years of service as a parts specialist.

Dan was currently active in various events and support groups through the local Veterans Affairs Center. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, woodworking, and tinkering. Dan took great pride in his little homestead where he raised ducks and chickens and tended to his abundant vegetable and flower gardens.

He is survived by his son, Jeremy S. Lothrop and wife Lisa, daughter, Christeena F. Lothrop and fiance Brad Doucette. Dan also leaves behind his four grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Alexis Starr, Nicholas Stone, Karlee Marie and Jeremy Scott Jr. Coming from a large family, Dan had three brothers, Jeff Lothrop and wife Lise, Peter Lothrop and wife Sherri and Keith Lothrop and wife Debbie. He also has a sister, Julie London and husband Steve. Carol Blackstone was his partner at the time of his passing. However, nothing else placed higher in his eyes than his soul-mate and love of his life, Stella, his service dog.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the funeral home followed by a 2 p.m., graveside committal with military honors at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.
