100 Years Ago: 1923
The Auburn Art Club met at the Sixth Street Congregational vestry yesterday afternoon for an address by Rev. G. E. Kinney on the “Enchanted Island”, commonly known as Mount Desert. A report of the Maine Federation meeting was given by Mrs.Chittenden.
50 Years ago: 1973
Fire Chief Reginald Doucette reported to the Fire Station Building Committee, Monday night that the work on the new station was nearing completion. All the painting and touching up was finished this week. Doucette said the contractors had taken care of most of the plumbing and electrical problems, but Doucette told the committee that the cooling units were dripping and the CMP power bill for July-September had to be straightened out with the general contractor, since the fire department was not in the building for some of that period.
25 Years Ago: 1998
The second meeting of the YWCA’s Lunch With a Bite series will be held from noon to 1 pm on November 3. The topic will be “Investment Basics for Women.”
Ann Craigs and Susan Lavers of Androscoggin Savings Bank will show the first steps of building a personal investment portfolio.
