Coming off an unbeaten season and conference championship in the Yankee Small College Conference, the Central Maine Community College women’s volleyball team took the next step in its 2023 season journey Wednesday.

The Mustangs earned the No. 5 seed in the United State Collegiate Athletic Association Division 2 national championship tournament, which begins Thursday, Nov. 9 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

CMCC, which enters the tournament with a 12-1 record, including 10-0 in YSCC play, opens pool play in Pool A against top-seeded Penn State University Mont Alto at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9. The Mustangs then face fourth-seeded Kent State Tuscarawas at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.

The top two teams in each pool advance to the semifinals, with Pool A winner facing Pool B runner-up and Pool B winner matching up against Pool A runner-up, which are scheduled for later in the day on Nov. 10. The championship match is scheduled 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.
