HARTFORD – Janice M. (Allanach) Lowe, 86, passed away on Friday Nov. 3, 2023, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born July 18, 1937, in Lewiston, a daughter of Christoper and Eva (Rundlett) Allanach. The only child of 13 to have been born in a hospital. On Sept. 18, 1954, she married Clifford E. Lowe. Janice was a longtime Avon Sales Representative in the area,

She loved to spend time with her family, especially her annual Christmas shopping trips, playing cards and bingo.

She was a member of the Eastern Stars for 50 years, the Grange for 65 years, the Pomona Rebekah Lodge, and the Sumner Mothers Community club for 65 years.

She is predeceased by her parents, husband, a son-in-law Maynard Farrar and 11 of her siblings.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Lowe of Hartford, (who she stayed with since the passing of Clifford) Marianne Lowe and husband David Lehtola of W. Paris, Gladys Russell and husband Robert Russell Jr. of Hartford, Patricia Fournier and husband Leslie Fournier of Sumner, Pamela Farrar of Sumner; Son Earl Lowe and wife Kim Lowe of Ocala, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, her sister Jean Carlton. Special nieces, Betty York and Sally Merchant along with her dear friend “the old hag’’ on Lower Sumner Hill (you know who you are).

A graveside service will take place on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at 1 p.m., at the Elmwood Cemetery in East Sumner.
