Robert Dupill Sr.

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Robert Dupill Sr. passed away on Oct. 30, 2023, at Westchester Gardens, Clearwater, Fla. at the age of 97.

Robert was born on March 16, 1926 in Rumford, the son of Edward and Marion Dupill. He grew up in Rumford, attending local schools, where he was also a great baseball player. A proud veteran, Robert honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On June 3, 1949, Robert married Gloria Stanley. He was a devoted husband and a loving father to his three sons. A dedicated worker, he was the maintenance supervisor at Boise Cascade and, at the same time, he and Gloria operated Stanley’s Furniture. They both played a great game of golf, loved world travel, visited many countries, and retired in Aruba. There, Robert taught himself Papiamento, the local language, and all about Aruban culture.

After losing Gloria to a courageous battle with cancer, he moved to Holliday, Fla. where he eventually met his companion, Doreen Smith. They happily lived together for many years, enjoying western Florida, and Robert continued to golf into his late 80s.

An avid reader, Robert loved to learn and educated himself on many topics throughout his life. Always interested in history, he loved genealogy, and traced his roots back generations. Robert also enjoyed watching sports, rarely missing a televised hockey game. He kept a meticulous calendar and was the first to send out birthday and holiday cards to family and friends.

Robert was predeceased by his parents; wife, Gloria; sons Robert, Gary, and Marc; brother, John, and sisters Doris Jordan and Gloriette Boudreau.

He is survived by his companion, Doreen Smith; daughter-in-law, Linda Dupill; granddaughter, Emily Dupill, granddaughter, Natalie Dupill and her husband Brooks Newkirk, granddaughter, Cory Navoy; sister-in-law, Barbara Dupill; and close friend, Gary Malfa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

At Robert’s request, a private burial will be held at a later date.
