NORWAY — The Mollyockett Chorus plans to perform a benefit concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the First Universalist Church of Norway, 479 Main St.

Each year the a cappella chorus adopts a theme for selecting the songs its members will sing that season. This year’s theme is “Your Flight Has Been Delayed.”

The Mollyockett Chorus, based in Norway, was organized in 1996 and is a chapter of Harmony Inc., an international women’s barbershop organization. Under the direction of Simon Smith of Bethel, the chorus sings popular music, mostly from early to mid-20th century, in the barbershop style, according to a news release from the Rev. Fayre Stephenson.

The chorus, comprised of women from all over the Lakes Region, performs at various venues. This spring they opened the season at the Bear Mountain Music Hall in Waterford. In August, the chorus and Maine-ly Harmony performed at a fundraiser for the Lewiston Senior Center in Lewiston.

Women who love to sing are welcome at chorus rehearsals, which take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays downstairs in the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway.

Admission costs $10 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the First Universalist Church of Norway.

For more information, email mollyockettchorus@gmail.com or visit the chorus on Facebook.
