LEWISTON — Area schools were locked down for 30 minutes Monday because of a domestic dispute between two adults, according to Superintendent Jake Langlais’ post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Langlais said police responded to a domestic dispute between the adults who have a student at Connors Elementary School at 400 Bartlett St. It was locked down along with Lewiston High School, Lewiston Regional Technical Center and its culinary arts school, The Green Ladle, all at 156 East Ave., and Longley Campus at 145 Birch St.

“Due to some things that were reportedly said, we initiated some sheltering/stay in the building strategies out of an abundance of caution …. The person of interest from the domestic dispute is not in the area according to law enforcement and the student that had a connection is no longer at school,” Langlais said at 12:54 p.m. “The student was picked up at pre-K dismissal time by mom.”
Staff and students are now safe, Langlais said, adding that school administration responds to incidents immediately and takes them seriously.
Lewiston Police Department did not immediately respond to questions on the incident.
