Democracy is “power of the people” — a way of governing which depends on the will of the people.
On Nov. 7, Election Day 2023, the citizens of Lewiston were called to the polls, tasked with voting to allow three incumbent councilors to continue governing with a lack of respect, trust and ethics, or vote to remove those councilors in hopes that a new governing team be elected that would work together and move Lewiston in a positive direction.
The citizens have spoken. Democracy is alive and well in Lewiston. The election results in Lewiston have clearly stated that respect, trust and ethics are still important qualities.
I thank those councilors who lost their seats for their service, and I wish the incoming council the best and hope that they, too, have heard the will of the people.
Former president Donald Trump is running again with the same message that he will “Make America Great Again.” With all due respect to Mr. Trump, America is great now, has always been great, and will continue to be great in the future.
Lewiston is proof of that.
God Bless America.
