OXFORD – Norma Bean Buck, 93, of Oxford and formerly of Bethel, passed away Friday Nov. 10, 2023. Norma was born in Bethel, Sept. 9, 1930, to Gladys Grover and Wilbur Bean and was one of three sisters and two brothers.

Norma married Albert Buck at the Bethel Methodist Church on July 18, 1948, and were married 63 wonderful years until Albert’s death in 2012. Together they raised their four children and spent time traveling to Old Orchard Beach, their camp at Songo Pond and enjoyed many outdoor activities such as skiing, snowmobiling and ice skating. Later in life they discovered their love for cruises and trying their luck at Foxwood and Atlantic City casinos.

Norma graduated from Gould Academy and raised her kids until the late 70’s. From there she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at Ledgeview Nursing Home in West Paris until she was 80 years old. Norma especially loved her weekly trips to ‘have her hair done’, laying in the sun as early as April or May in her driveway. She also loved her English Springer dogs and Siamese cats.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Chin of Lewiston and Debra Haworth; her nine grandchildren; and many great grandchildren who have been fortunate enough to know and receive the many hugs and love that Norma had to share.

She was predeceased by her husband Albert, her daughter Nancy and her son John.

Norma will be greatly missed for her determination, her strength and her spirit – which we know will live on.
