Bryan M. MacFarlane
LEWISTON — Bryan MacFarlane, 41, was the first deaf person in Vermont to earn his commercial driver license and among the first nationwide, according to his obituary. He loved his dog, M&Ms, and hanging out with deaf friends.
Growing up in the greater Portland area, he attended the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf until he earned his high school diploma, according to his obituary. He lived in several different states through his life, including Ohio and North Carolina. He moved back to Maine just over a year ago. Working as a truck driver, his greatest achievement was earning his CDL.
Bryan was at Schemengee’s Bar & Grille on Oct. 25 playing in a cornhole tournament with other members of the Deaf community.
There is a celebration of life service scheduled today at Funeral Alternatives in Lewiston, 25 Tampa St., from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. it will also be livestreamed through Funeral Alternatives Facebook page. The family is asking people to make donations to a trade school scholarship that benefits Deaf students in his name, instead of flowers.
