Eva Murray LaDouceur
KINGSTON, N.H. – Eva (Murray) LaDouceur, age 95, died peacefully in Kingston, NH, on Saturday, November 18. She was a lifelong resident of Lewiston, ME, until 2018, when she moved to All American Assisted Living of Kingston to be near her daughter. While at All American, she enjoyed an active social life with the other residents and was beloved by residents and staff alike for her warmth, caring, and sense of humor. She especially enjoyed the afternoon bingo games and frequent live entertainment. Sadly, at the time of her death, she was mourning the passing of her devoted son, John, who died in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, four weeks prior.
Eva had a long career in the shoe industry as an Executive Assistant and then Credit Manager at Dori Shoe Co. Her “retirement job” was working quarterly at Payroll Management Co. preparing tax documents until the age of 86. She always enjoyed her work.
A woman of strong faith, Eva was devoted to the service of others and to sharing with those in need. For many years she was active at St. Joseph’s Church as a Eucharistic Minister, Pastoral Care volunteer, and member of the Queen’s Guild Sodality. For 20 years, she was a volunteer at St. Martin de Porres Residence, where she served and shared the evening meal of her homemade macaroni and cheese with the residents on the first Friday of every month.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She hosted large gatherings for her extended family (and special guest Santa) on many a Christmas evening, to the delight of the children and adults alike who now cherish many fond memories of their Memere and of Aunt Eva. The little ones were always especially drawn to her and felt special around her. In all her years, nothing meant more to her than the closeness and time spent with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert LaDouceur, her sons Peter and John, and grandson Robert LaDouceur.
She leaves her daughter, Jocelyn LaDouceur Lavoie, and son Daniel LaDouceur.
She will be missed by her grandchildren Katie Lavoie Cain, Alison Lavoie Vandenburgh, Jean-Luc LaDouceur, Elise LaDouceur, Alicia LaDouceur Williams, Michael LaDouceur, and Danielle LaDouceur. She held a special place in her heart for Nicole Richards Christian and Scott Richards.
She also has 10 great-grandchildren who will remember Memere when they play with the many Beanie Babies that she had collected and shared with them.
Additional survivors include her brother, Michael Murray, sister Carol Murray Christiansen, sister-in-law Constance Vincent Murray, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
