Fundraiser

NORWAY — The Heywood Club (1903-present) on Crockett Ridge in Norway will again this year be holding our ‘Lights of Love’ Christmas Tree Fundraiser. We have a special mission in our needs to keep the club in good condition. We need to have the sill on the backside of the clubhouse replaced, as it is in very bad shape. We have had an estimate from a firm that specializes in the restoration of old buildings. It is quite a project and comes at a big price.

So we are asking for help with this project by purchasing a light for our tree, located at the four corners of Crockett Ridge, in memory of someone special. Lights are $5 each and will be lit between Dec. 3 through the 31st. Checks can be made out to ‘The Heywood Club’ and sent to Barbara Townsend, 475 Crockett Ridge Road, Norway, ME, 04268. Thank you for any donation you can make.

Woolies

NORWAY — The Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St., Norway, Maine is requesting help in expanding its Mitten Mission. For over 50 years, dedicated members, and friends of the Second Congregational Church, UCC (205 Main St., Norway, Maine) have knit mittens and hats for children in the Oxford Hills school district to use on cold winter days.

This year, they are requesting the community’s help in expanding this long-standing tradition. New-store-bought, clean-gently-used, and hand-knit mittens and hats of all sizes are needed and may be dropped off at the church. During Dec., mittens will decorate the Sanctuary-Mable Brown Christmas tree. Then in early January, mittens and hats will be delivered to the local elementary schools. For more information, please call the church office at 207-743-2290.
