MECHANIC FALLS — Following a public hearing Monday night with the Planning Board, the Town Council approved language amending the town’s Zoning and Land Use Ordinances which involved Affordable Housing Developments, Additional Dwelling Units and Accessory Dwelling Units.

The council also approved the application for a marijuana retail facility to Kind & Co., which will be located at 83 Pigeon Hill Road.

Water Department Superintendent Jake Verrill presented the department’s budget for 2024 at a second public hearing. The council approved the $466,860 budget, which is $11,154 less than the current budget of $478,860.

The purchase of 15 air packs for the Fire and Rescue Department in the amount of $121,320 was also approved by the council. Funds for the purchase will come from the department’s reserve account.
